Foster Care Fortnight 2025 is running from 12 to 25 May and Children’s Health Scotland is proud to lend our support to this flagship event—recognised as one of the UK’s biggest awareness initiatives for fostering. Organised by The Fostering Network this year the event places a focus on “The Power of Relationships,” underscoring the vital connections at the heart of every fostering journey.
At Children’s Health Scotland, we understand that the strength of fostering lies in the deep bonds built between foster carers and children, the committed support from social workers, and the enduring networks within fostering communities. Our work with foster carers across Scotland has consistently centred on providing robust, rights-based training and resources that empower them to meet the healthcare needs of the children in their care. We believe that every relationship—whether it’s the nurturing connection between a carer and child, the collaboration among professionals, or the ties that keep birth families involved—forms the golden thread that not only stabilizes but also transforms lives.
Commenting on Foster Care Fortnight, Helen Forrest, Chief Executive of Children’s Health Scotland said:
Our commitment has always been to uplift and support the detailed tapestry of relationships that foster care creates. Foster Care Fortnight 2025 is a celebration of these life-changing bonds. By equipping our foster carers with tools, training, and unwavering support in relation to their health and wellbeing and that of the children and young people in their care, we help ensure that each child finds a safe, stabilizing home where their full potential can be nurtured. By lending our support to Foster Care Fortnight, Children’s Health Scotland reinforces its dedication to the wellbeing of children in care and acknowledges the meaningful impact of relationships in transforming lives. We invite community members, policymakers, and stakeholders to join us during the fortnight, celebrating the immeasurable contributions of foster carers and the profound power of trusting, supportive relationships that help shape brighter futures.
Children’s Health Scotland remains committed to forging strong partnerships and delivering impactful support to foster carers, ensuring every child in their care has the opportunity to thrive in a nurturing environment. We look forward to celebrating the transformative power of relationships with the entire fostering community this May.
In addition to this press release, Children’s Health Scotland is encouraging people to explore upcoming events, resource workshops, and innovative programmes designed to further strengthen the amazing network of care that makes fostering such a life-changing experience.
