University research shows marked increase in mental health prescriptions for children
Antidepressant prescriptions for children in one part of Scotland have increased by almost 60% in six years, research has found. Experts from the University of Aberdeen compared mental health prescriptions issued in the NHS Grampian region over the period 2015 to 2021.
SMS:HUB on Ice! Thanks to the STV Children’s Appeal and Lidl
On Sunday 4th December, Rhianne and some of the the children and young people who attend our SMS:HUB went to Lidl On Ice, thanks to the STV Children’s Appeal and Lidl gifting us free tickets. It was wonderful to meet up in person and see the magic of the festive Edinburgh City Centre.
New school pupil support programme launched in Glasgow
In a report by Lucy Adams, BBC Scotland Social Affairs Correspondent, children missing from school for long periods will now be supported instead of being punished under a new pilot programme in Glasgow. The report states that overall school attendance has dropped across Scotland since the disruption of the Covid pandemic.
